 Soaring Rental Market
Whereas the real estate industry's most oft-used catch phrase is "Location! Location! Location!" the Bay Area may well choose "Apartments! Apartments! Apartments!" for its 2013 slogan. Whether it was ground-breaking, under construction or ready for occupancy, thousands of units contributed to a record-breaking apartment construction boom.

Among the notable participants were Venn, 113 units at 1844 Market Street; Paragon, 300+ units in Midtown; and the high-end NEMA towers, 754 units in mid-Market. This boom reflects the influx of new jobs in the Bay Area, including many in the well-paying technology field. The area's planners and councils have their work cut out for them as they plan for the projected population growth, and the ever-widening affordability gap.
