Time for a Glass of Wine!

Driving up to Napa this afternoon for a little R&R...

If you've ever wondered why the California State Colors are Blue and Gold, some will tell you the 'gold' is for the poppies (or the gold discovered decades back)...However, the real gold is where the hills touch the sky!  It's my favorite time of year right now, so I'm off to enjoy some of it before it disappears.

I just took a little video of the Napa exit off the 80...(really love my iphone)...

...will check in later after a couple of glasses of vino.

Let's do a virtual toast, Roger (cheers).  :-)

David, Enjoy. The wine country and San Francico are the only parts of CA I've seen. Make mine cabernet. Okay?

I LOVE Napa and the entire wine country up there.  I live ten minutes or so from the Temecula Wine Country, and visit quite often.  Mmmmm, hey, it's 5 O'Clock somewhere, coctail time.  Enjoy!

Oops...just checked in and noticed that as well.  Thanks for the heads up Wiliam!  Should work now.  :-)  Cheers.

Cabernet it is, Charles.

Jean, I've heard Temecula has some wonderful vineyards!  I still need to check that out one of these days!!

Lucky!  I'm having some wine tonight with friends but nothing as good as you're about to enjoy I'm sure!  Love Fall....best season of 'em all.  Enjoy your trip!

I'm drinking a glass of Cab right now ! What are some of your favorite Wineries in Napa ???

Posted by Michael J. Perry, Lancaster, PA Relo Specialist (KW Elite ) about 7 years ago

I visited wineries in Italy and Germany but have never been to California's Vineyards. I do love Napa and Alexandara Valleys wines. I am little jelouse now.  Have agreat time, David.

I'm doing the same, Kerrie...just happens to be in Napa (we're hanging out a home a friend of mine purchased as a "weekend" place).

Hey Michael...Still on a chardonay here.  My favorite wineries (mostly because I like their wines) are Merryvale, Cakebread, and Franciscan up in St. Helena; if you're into organic wines, Preston (in Healdsburg) is excellent.  I also love  Kistler and Roche Carneros (in the Sonoma Valley).  Cheers.

Anna, I think I'M more jealous of my friends beautiful home here with the swimming pool and hot tub! It sits on the Western hills with a view of the valley.  Disgusting, really.

Posted by David Ames, San Francisco (Zephyr Real Estate, San Francisco) about 7 years ago

Yep, that's it! Now we're all jealous!  Hills, view of the valley, hot tub, pool, wine!  Whaaaa, now I'm beginning to whine!  Enjoy!

David--- Cheers to you and enjoy your trip.  Please tell me you weren't "shooting" and driving at the same time!!!  We need you here at ActiveRain.

Actually it's almost crushing time as well!  I  don't think their is anything better than freshly crushed grapes..... except the fragrant glimpse of a 10 year old cab!  Enjoy!  The crisp is in the air!

Laura, No wining...I mean whining...I mean, yes...wine...no.  I think it's time for me to hit the hay soon.  zzzzzzzzz....

Kathy, I did, but I kept my eyes on the road and just held the phone...(I know, I know), my sister said the same thing!  Thanks for 'lookin out for me'   :-)

Crushing time is definitely near, Kimberly.  Some friends wanted me to join their "harvest" group this year (where you buy into your own private label), but I have more practical uses for the $5k at the moment!  I need to close a few more escrows this year before I start playing the Mr. "High Roller" game.  ;-)

Hope you had a great time David.  Nothing like a little Rolling Stones playing in the background on a road trip!  I was in Napa a few years back when my Stepdaughter lived in Santa Cruz.  I loved it!  Now she's in O.C. so it's a little too far to go for the day.  Hmmm, is it too early for a glass of Shiraz?  I think not, it's 3 hours later here ;-)  Cheers!

Posted by Charlene Storozuk, Home Stager - Burlington Ontario (Dezigner Digz) about 7 years ago

Thanks Charlene.  It was fun to be spontaneous and take the afternoon off...a little Stones, a little wine!  You'll have to find some wineries in the Orange County area next time you're down there...I'm sure they exist.  ;-)

Whoo David. I live in Livermorek, a wonderful wine region.  So many events center around wine, and good wine at that. I can't think of a better way to wind down a day.  We're going to the local movie theater this evening.  You can even buy beer or wine (appetizers from the restaurant next door) and eat at bistro tables while you enjoy your movie.  Now that's style!

Posted by Karen Crowson, Your Agent for Change (Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage) about 7 years ago
Ooooo, I agree Karen! Next time you're in the City, check out the Kabuki theater in Japan town...beer & wine inside + reserved seats. :-)

Hello David and I never knew about the California sign and I have several photographs of it! We just rolled through Napa Valley on our trip back from the Redwoods, it's amazing!

Hey Robert!  Yeah, the good ole' blue and gold.  Officially, it's supposed to represent the sky and the gold discovered by the forty-niners.  Thanks for also 'rolling' by my blog as well.  ;-)

Posted by David Ames, San Francisco (Zephyr Real Estate, San Francisco) about 7 years ago

Hey David, this is great!  Thanks for taking me along - we've got the top down, we're bombing along a California highway somewhere, and rocking out to the Rolling Stones, on our way to taste some of the world's best wines!  Does life get any better than that?

Which wineries will you be visiting?  Will you be visiting any or just hanging with your friends?  Have fun!

Sally...you're so cute!  I actually just went up for the day/night, came back this morning.  It's only an hour drive from my place in the City (with no traffic, mind you), so we just hung out at my friends house.  Glad you enjoyed my little "ride".  ;-)

Posted by David Ames, San Francisco (Zephyr Real Estate, San Francisco) about 7 years ago

David- I have been on that freeway many times on the way up to Napa.  My favorite time of year to go is fall and winter, the crowds are much smaller.  You also get much more one on one time in the tasting rooms.  Can't wait to go back.

I couldn't agree more, Jim.  It's the best time of year to be there.
